Back to Zapping - another key element is how quick SI (tables) are received and processed by the box. Simple case I handled on multicast, zapping was pathetic - Cause PAT delay. To address, the stb manufacture coded the firmware in a way that it would store all channel info (tables) on its memory instead of waiting from the SI server.
Definitely, this has its own downside. In case the tables change, then the box takes time to pick the new info but normalize after the first boot.
