if your looking to transcode a video then simply use ffmpeg there is no point installing a crappy gui application as they all use ffmpeg as there backend anyway so just do it your self using comand line

your question is a bit open ended

you say your looking to transcode vod files but into what format and what quality what are you going to be using these files for ?

plain vod ? or are your going to use them to create a 24/7 channel ?
