Hello everyone,
I'm starting on the platform in order to learn, I purchased a 512mb and dual core vps and installed the xstream ui and the system worked, but when I added a channel the use of cpu blew up and the machine stops responding. can someone give me details of what transcoding is and why it consumes so much?
what is the difference between the old xstreamcodes and xstreamui?

I thank you for the answer, but I had no idea of the consumption of xstream, so I put it in the simplest possible vps, if it is possible to answer the questions I quoted I thank you

To use a server as a load balancer, without transcoding, with 1gbps output, you will get around 300 outgoing connections.
For this, minimum of 4 cpu's, 16gb ram.
Without forgetting to make optimizations in the use of the cpu/mem, so that no overuse occurs, and without transcode.

This is an average.
If you are going to do a trancode, even mounting a copy profile, there will be cpu overhead. For that you will need a much larger processor. Or a server with GPU transcode, for that you will also need to adapt your fmmpeg to use GPU / video processing.

Possible. Yes. 512mb virtual ram or even dedicated ram, NO. You should stop what you do. Spend time and research. Go to Beginners Zone and READ. Save up your money and be prepared to spend several hundred euro on servers. Yes, servers... more than one. Not one VPS. Not several VPS’s.

OP is asking for concrete answer, but did not aks concrete questions!
What is his task? - restream channels, transcode channels, receive channels from sat or dvb network? Resell channels. Every one of these tasks is asking for different kind of server and have different hardware requirements. Some are asking for CPU(receiving from DVB), some are asking for RAM(panel and restream), some are asking for HDD(catchup), some are asking for NETWORK(EDGE streamers and CDN, restream) , some are asking for GPU(transcoders). So the better question is - What is the task that the OP is wanting to do?
OP - read, check some demos of available pannels, download some iptv apps, and dont watch tv, check channels, configurations, panels, read about stream types, about encoding, what is hevc, what is h264, what is TS, what is PID ... A lot of reading ahead, dont try and learn from your own mistakes, they will come at expense of your users and your money. Read and use other people's mistakes to fix yours before they even appear
And most of all, when you read documentatioon of a panel , you need to understand every word, if something is unclear then you need to learn more
If one server is good for all then it is not good - it is overpowered and its resources are not used good!

You forgot to mention the biggest expense, reputation. Once you get a bad reputation for having bad service, it is almost impossible to recover. This is why so many fail. They chose to act without knowing, without experience, etc.

I will just answer the question you aked.
Transcoding consuming so much power because for example it's turning each bit of audio and video from mpeg2 to h264 for example, it will always consume a lot of CPU.

There is no difference between XtreamCodes and XtreamUI. Once Xtreamcode was a comercial project which got law issues and forced to close, however their sources was still available on customers servers, so some guy started to make own UI for those files which called now XtreamUI. There is no difference in their functionality.

Sure there is. The XtreamUI is own code for “panel” that control XC core. Since is not XC, it does not function the same as XC do. XtreamUI still lacks many things, features, functionality, efficiency, security, etc because is not XC.
Is like saying LibreOffice and OpenOffice are same thing when really it is not.

use "Threads" limits per channel. to sd 480 2 Threads. HD 720 6 Threads. or try with the limit for you the best limits. I used ipvideotrans with limits transcode. there is the same feature on XC too.
But please increase your VPS. it is 512MB. Do not expect much performance with it.
