Category Icon removal (Live, EPG, VOD, Series) is something that has being doing my head in for some time...

Well aware there are already posts on the forum on how this can be done; however, as a relative 'newbie', without upgrading to VIP status these were not available to me.

After a lot of searching i found what turned out (for me) to be the 'golden ticket'; a post from FierceGorilla stating this could be done in CategoriesActivity.smali - many thanks dude; without the hint i would still be looking!

The (obvious) first step for many people is to just set the visibility of the unwanted category to 'Gone' in the layout xml - not going to work guys...

visibility is controlled programmatically - this now makes total sense as many of the management panels give the option to turn on / off the category icons; 'hardcoded single dns' apps just being a modified panel version ... QED - visibility is hard coded!

So, next came several late 'googling' nights on the back of which i finally made a breakthrough....

Because if you are a newbie you put 100 likes for other newbies who are looking for the same thing as you, you have gotten lucky or you are smarter but 100 likes is too much. now that you achieve it you make it impossible, I've been here for months and I'm only 14 I like it

la visibilidad se controla mediante programación; esto ahora tiene mucho sentido, ya que muchos de los paneles de administración ofrecen la opción de activar / desactivar los iconos de categoría; Las aplicaciones 'dns individuales codificadas de forma rígida' son simplemente una versión de panel modificado ... QED: ¡la visibilidad está codificada de forma rígida!

Entonces, luego vinieron varias noches tardías de 'googlear' en la parte posterior de las cuales finalmente logré un gran avance ...

Porque si eres novato pones 100 me gusta para otros novatos que buscan lo mismo que tú, has conseguido tener suerte o eres más inteligente pero 100 me gusta es demasiado. ahora que lo logras lo haces imposible, llevo meses aquí y solo tengo 14 me gusta

I was in the same position, not enough likes... what did i do ? spent several nights looking at smali files working out how to do it.
