Question Moving from reseller to provider. 400 lines

Hey all,

I've done any things over the years. Nagra, fta, emulation and now I've been a reseller for 6 years. I also have a private family only Plex server hosted with Hetzner that's around 150TB

My current provider vod is constantly having issues so I've begun exploring being my own provider. I figure since I already manage a large Plex server and already have 400 reseller clients this should be a natural progression right?

My question is what do I need to avoid common pitfalls? Multiple servers? Vps? Load balancer?

My service is referral only, no advertising so growth is very organic.

I feel like my setup is super simple. I just need USA channels, locals, adult, and ppv.

1. Why would I use one panel over another? I see people against XUI for instance

2. I see people also against Hetzner. Does my private only idea change this or should I still go offshore?

3. Since I already manage Plex, should I just recreate this for vod or buy restream content?

4. How can I know my channels are real direct sources? I don't just want to be another link in the pyramid anymore.

I prioritize stability over everything. It's only 400 users. I want to give them the best experience possible. My Plex server never buffers. I want the same for this. I plan to do alot of reading here just looking for a jumping off point to get moving quickly

I ve benn running xtream ui more than 3 years using a Hetzner as main and no issues, I would only use xui to cumsume vods from plex or from restream,I have setup my vods to automatically download and add to their categories so it depends if you are gonna use your already built plex setup.

You can only be sure that your sources are direct if you get them by yourself from satellite or online services, there are some methods for tha purpose without spending a lot on additional servers.

A couple followup questions. So I have to use Plex as the backend for vod? Or can XUI do it natively? As you probably know Plex stopped allowing Hetzners data center some time ago. And I've had challenges with vpns providing enough bandwidth

You said you would only use XUI for vod. Do you mean you wouldn't also use it for live TV?

Are you purchasing network storage from Hetzner or is it local storage inside the server? And should I consider running separate servers for panel, live, vod movies and vod TV?

Lastly when you say 'get them yourself from satellite' do you mean actually putting a satellite on top of my house? Unsure of the logistics there, trying to capture 300 channels AND somehow send to Hetzner

I have never tried but i think xui can integrate with plex servers and synchronize your collection easily, for a relatively high amount of viewers the ideal would be a separated server for vods using a cloud and mounting it as local storage.

about satellite, there are some providers who sell you the raw encrypted signal so you dont need to install any satellite dishes on your roof

Thanks for that info. I think I want all servers to be cloud hosted. I guess I'll start playing around with my test server. I need to find a source for raw feeds I guess

I personally have 1 single host for my xui. I host the arrs on seperate servers also so for movies I hold them on a server and have xui sync them using watch folders, same with series.

I run xui on a 10gbit server and it literally runs only UK, PPV and Adult.

You get alot of people out there that sell restreams but personally I find the majority of them are not up to the standards I require.
