Hi All,

I've installed Ubuntu Server on a high end desktop PC I have to try out Xtream UI. I've installed the panel and added my media which I've been able to stream on my TV via Smarters, but I was curious as to what the general consensus is for providers when it comes to running a local server or one of the cloud based server offerings? I expect there are pros and cons for each approach, but I would be interested to hear the communities views and experiences?

Cheers,

Dude, you're killing me here... lol. For testing things out you can do either IF you know what you're doing. The moment you think about actually doing any type of load (more than 1 user, more than one test stream, static file, whatever) virtual environments are no longer reasonable or feasible..

Hello,

i make my own iptv with xtream ui with AWS solution.
it's pretty easy and very robuste (peering/speed bandwitch/storage and security) but its very expensive.

output/input bandwitch is not free!! 1.5k$ for 2TB..................... lol

its very good idea, but not cheap !!!!

so... prem server is better

SMH, you use AWS?!?!?! There is no gain to this. You ask for many many problems in the future. Is shame.

They seem way too overpriced for the specs of the servers and disk space from the one's that I've seen advertised. With a decent sized VOD library of TV shows you can easily be looking at upward of 50TB required for storage alone and the one's I'd seen are offering a few TB for a couple of hundred quid a month so I thought that would be the case. Like your Man above with AWS, that's a huge amount of outlay each month.
