You need some intermediate connector app to retrieve the playlist and parse it into android tv channels native format. Also, I do not believe there is one that uses API, but I cannot remember. The experience is not worth the trouble btw. There is a plethora of apps on the market that can be customized either by the service owner or by the end user. Some services find permitting m3u as unfavorable and intentionally disable this option.
