Amlogic + 1080i h264 deinterlacing issues

Hi!

To make a long story short I've been looking to find the perfect budget android STB for IPTV.

I've tested three different Amlogic S905X devices and two different S905X2 devices and ALL of them have issues with deinterlacing. The picture quality is bad and choppy.

Only when running Android though.
For example running CoreELEC or TVIP Linux deinterlacing works fine.

I had promised myself not to buy anymore Amlogic-based devices BUT the search for the perfect budget-device continues, so I've been looking at the S905X3 for a while now.

Anyone have any experience with running 1080i h264 channels on S905X3? (Popular format on EU sports channels for some reason)

Is deinterlacing finally fixed in s905x3?

Anyone else that can relate?

Bonus information: playing around with a device based on AllWinner H616 now. Picture quality is good but device has some other issues.. No BT, no proper standby mode and CPU is a little sluggish.

The issue is crap roms. Best budget device... probably the TiVo Stream 4K.

I agree, would have been a lot of fun to play around with the TiVo Stream 4k.
Hard to get one in the EU without paying a fortune unfortunately..

The EU has their own share of nice devices that isn't available in NA. Consider the new Android Dreambox Ultra 4k. It only available in DE. Bummer.

Yeah. If you mean the DreamTV Mini UHD I already own it actually. Based on S905X2.
Full of bugs and issues. Deinterlacing is broken, subs not working etc.etc.
I'm in contact with the developers through their forum with feedback.
