Get the youtube live channels is not the same that get any other video in hls format, for the live channels are others restrictions but it is possible.

This is a real live conversion from Youtube to HLS format.

Using this live streaming:

And then playing using VLC, running the converter in Ubuntu Server 18.04, HLS/MPEGTS

Is not a script, but with some PHP code it can be.
