It needs to connect to the database to authenticate user lines and be able to know what channels the user is able to view.

Guys, created those files just to solve the purpose and make app working. You can put xc_config.php file to different location, outside web root directory and encrypt password. Use ufw and block mysql port. You guys can use your expertise and make it more secure.
