I found this video to be a helpful guide for hardening your Ubuntu server. It was made for Ubuntu 14.04 but this should work on up. This is a great video to learn from and even if you don't want to learn anything, just following along can help secure your server. Not only does it go into changing the ssh port, but it also talks about securing root, fail2ban, and protecting against unwarranted connections.



I'm hoping for some suggestions for more security protocols as well. From looking around i've done the following

-Changed the ssh port
-Disabled root login
-Installed and configured fail2ban
-Locked down root privileges to only granted users
-Using rsa key to connect (Have not disabled password login completely yet.. too scared to lock my self out xD)
