Now that OVH have stopped offered Ubuntu 18.04 as an OS install from their default setup images but still listing 18.04 as a offered OS on their site, I was wondering if anyone knew how to use the Bring Your Own Image (BYOI) feature offered as an alternative way to put 18.04 on a dedciated server.

As XCUI doesn't work with newer versions of Ubuntu I thought I would ask. I did look at their "Guide" for BYOI but its very vauge, doesn't really say much and I've not seen any guides anywhere either.

Hoping someone can help.

Hi, i would change Provider anyway, OVH is not for streaming purposes anymore, since they switched to a Fair-Usage Policy for Standard configurations, around 1 or 2 years ago. You have to pay extra for even 1GBPS "Guaranteed" Bandwidth, if not.....you face the snail protocols by them...
Using your own Template, over IPMI..is tricky with OVH, because they are not really interested having Streamer as clients.

actually OVH are still good for low cost servers to run small sections on so I still use them and never had any issues. Its not really a template either, its just getting the default 18.04 installed.

Can you Specify? so the Ubuntu 18 is still in their templates choices or not? as i know, Ubuntu 18 EOF is Apr 2028, so it should not be available in OVH's Template selection. IPMI install should be still possible, but anyway, OVH should not be a choice for streaming matters....

Ubuntu 18.04 is no longer offered via the "Install from an OVHcloud template" that was even confirmed by OVH support. This is why I was asking about the BYOI feature not a debate on if OVH should or should not be used.

Your confusing above post ( Its not really a template either, its just getting the default 18.04 installed.)was the reason i answered to your post. nothing more, nothing less. you are still able to install every OS you want with OVH, over IPMI...
