do you know if there's a way to search the full smali folder or can you just search one file at a time?

Once you have decompiled the APK you can use an app called aGrep to search all the files within a target directory. Just add your directory and add smali to the extension.

If you want to do a full search and replace of multiple files on android, you can zip the decompiled APK and use SPCK Editor. Import your project as a zip. Then you can search and edit.
